Athens Gay Beach Guide

Limanakia ist der beliebteste Gay-Strand in der Nähe von Athen und einer der bekanntesten in ganz Griechenland. Er liegt an dem felsigen Küstenabschnitt zwischen dem wohlhabenden Vorort Vouliagmeni und Varkiza, etwa 45 Minuten südlich des Stadtzentrums am Saronischen Golf.

Der Strand besteht eher aus vielen kleinen Buchten als aus einem einzigen Sandstrand. Der Abschnitt Limanakia B ist das Gay- und FKK-Gebiet, eingebettet zwischen weißen Kalksteinfelsen und mit klarem, tiefem Wasser zum Schwimmen. Da es dort keinen Sand und keine Hotelanlagen gibt, sonnen sich die Besucher auf den flachen Felsen und klettern vom Rand ins Wasser. Badeschuhe sind empfehlenswert, wenn Sie empfindliche Füße haben.

Das Publikum besteht hauptsächlich aus schwulen Männern. Besonders in den Sommermonaten ist hier viel los, vor allem nachmittags herrscht reges Treiben. Eine kleine Strandbar in der Nähe bietet Getränke und einfache Snacks an, die Ausstattung ist jedoch begrenzt, daher sollten Sie vorbereitet sein.

Anreise: Mit dem Auto folgen Sie der Poseidonos-Allee am Vouliagmeni-See vorbei. Der Strand liegt etwa 1,8 km weiter, Parkplätze befinden sich auf der rechten Seite. Ohne Auto nehmen Sie die Metrolinie M2 bis Elliniko, dann den Bus 122 bis zur Haltestelle „B Limanakia“ und folgen der Straße hinunter zum Wasser. Eine Uber-Fahrt vom Athener Stadtzentrum ist unkompliziert und bei der Hitze empfehlenswert.

Pikpa is a gay and naturist beach on the Athens Riviera at Voula, around 18km south of the city center. That makes it noticeably closer and easier to reach than Limanakia, roughly a 30 to 40 minute trip by car or tram, which is its main draw for anyone short on time.

The beach is a series of rocky coves with clear, deep water, sitting just along from the organized paid section of Voula Beach. There is no sand to speak of and little development, so visitors lay out on the rocks and swim in from the edge. If you want sunbeds, showers, and a beach bar, the serviced part of Voula is right next door.

The crowd is predominantly gay men, and Pikpa is the more discreet, low-key option of the two main Athens gay beaches. It is quieter and more secluded than Limanakia, which remains the busier daytime social spot.

Getting there: Take the tram to Voula, then it is around a 30-minute walk to the beach. By car or Uber it is about 18km from central Athens along the coast road. Access can be awkward, as much of the headland is fenced off by private beaches, so allow time to find the path down.
