    CRUZ 101

    Der CRUZ 101 ist einer der traditionsreichsten LGBTQ+-Nachtclubs in Manchester. Er wurde 1992 eröffnet und ist seither ein wichtiger Bestandteil des schwulen Nachtlebens der Stadt.

    Anders als viele der eher barorientierten Lokale im Village ist das CRUZ ein vollwertiger Nachtclub mit zwei Etagen, einer großen Tanzfläche, Live-Auftritten, Drag-Events und einem separaten Bereich im Untergeschoss, dem Sub 101, für House- und Tech-House-Nächte. Im Hauptraum wird vorwiegend Pop, Remixe und kommerzielle Dance-Musik gespielt.

    Es hat auch eine kleine Fernsehgeschichte: Das Äußere wurde für Szenen in der britischen Originalserie Queer As Folk in „Babylon“ verwandelt.

    In the days of olde 24 hr membership checks kept us safe

    Why can't we have Friday/Saturday night strictly for gay men, gay women and then everybody else on the quieter mid-weeknights. Its a Gay Club in the Gay Village not a place to visit for a laugh its not a zoo! Its our way of life we need to mix with our own kind as a break from the office, the street and College. Please make this a welcoming LBGT venue again.

    Not safe

    Cruz 101 is not a gay club anymore. A few gay guys go there but it is mostly a straight venue. The club is quite nice wit a small dance floor and regular house music. But it is not safe for gay men. There have been many serious assaults in the club recently aimed at the few gay guys who go there. The owners acknowledge this on their Facebook page.

    Great for a hen party

    My girly friends love a night out in the gay village, we try to go once a month and arrange a mini bus from Rochdale. We always hit Cruz 101. We are all straight but love the gays. Cruz is great fun and the best place for hen parties. We always finish the night by stocking up on fried chicken at McTuckys for the journey home. A must at least once for every straight female out there. Come on ladies!

    Appalling place

    Cruz101 s no longer a gay club. Mostly drunk silly heterosexual girls - sometimes aggressive towards the few gays that still go. The entrance fee is very expensive at £12. The venue is small with just one floor and a dance area. The toilets stink. Such a shame what the management have done to the place.
